About Everest and the Crew

Hello and thank you for taking the time to consider staying aboard the 80′ San Lorenzo Motor Yacht, Everest. Captains Dan and Kelly are happy to host you while you stay in “America’s Coolest Small Town,” Beaufort, NC. This Italian motor yacht is just finishing a major modernization including all new carpeting, new flat screen TV’s, new outdoor upholstery, new fixtures, tile floors, and granite counters in the heads (bathrooms).  Everest is docked near all of the area’s many attractions.

About the crew

Dan is an avid seaman that has sailed around the world, solo, on a 32′ Pearson Vanguard. After spending so much time on the water, Dan decided to spend some time on land climbing mountains. Motor Yacht Everest is named after his 2004 summit atop Mount Everest.  Dan’s love of boats, the water, traveling, and putting a smile on someone’s face is what has encouraged him to share M/Y Everest with you.
Kelly shares many of the same passions as Dan and enjoys seeing people enjoy themselves as well. She currently teaches Chemistry at the local community college and enjoys hosting and traveling over her summer vacation.  Kelly is who you will be communicating with when you contact Everest.  She will work with Dan to assure that your stay aboard is one that you will never forget!

Testimonials

Fabulous & Memorable Yacht Vacation. From the moment we arrived, Kelly & Dan were wonderfully warm and hospitable. They anticipated our every need and took care of us like family. They made great suggestions for activities, meals and everything else one could imagine to do on a beautiful yacht. We slept well and had great fun especially the half-day cruise. We brought three 10 year old children with us and they also had a blast. The kids loved finding crabs in the crab trap and fishing and releasing their catch. They especially had fun jumping off the side off the boat even from the top deck! We loved having a seafood extravaganza dinner we made up top. The yacht was spotless when we arrived and provided for all of our wants and needs. The yacht is docked in a well run dock with a great store with nice wines and gifts. The town of Beaufort is a quant village with lovely shops and restaurants without being too touristy. We stayed 3 nights and hate to go but look forward to returning.

Must experience for yourself!!!! We spent 3 nights on this beautiful yacht and didn't want to leave! The pictures don't even do it justice. Dan and Kelly were incredibly accommodating and became more like family by the time we left. I would highly recommend experiencing it for yourself! We are already planning our next trip back!!!

Dream Wedding a Reality! My husband and I got married on The Everest and it was a dream come true for us! The day was perfect in every way. The scenery was beautiful, and was just such a wonderful time for us and our family! Kelly and Dan catered to our every need and we felt we had known them for years! We stayed on The Everest for a short honeymoon and loved every minute of our yacht experience. Thanks Dan and Kelly for everything!

We got married on Everest. We had a wonderful time for our three day two night excursion on Everest. Kelly and Dan were terrific hosts. We hired a wedding planner, DJ and had a wedding party the second day with fantastic catering. Everything about our trip was terrific- we made full use of the 4 bedrooms on board as we had a total party of 8. We had an AMAZING time! We would book with Everest again and intend to do so.

BEST WEEKEND EVER!! I was looking for a place to celebrate my upcoming wedding with my best girlfriends, and thought M/Y Everest would be a fun, unique experience. Kelly was very responsive and accommodating when I was booking the yacht, and was patient when it took me a little while to get a final headcount.

Once we arrived on the boat, Dan and Kelly graciously welcomed us into their home like we were old friends with offers of water, soda, or beer (that they had stocked the fridge with for us) after our long 6 hour drive--it was such a nice touch!

After the grand tour of this beautiful boat, Dan and Kelly went back to their stationary home while we waited for the rest of our party to get there. We spent the rest of the evening on the huge lounge area on the top deck catching up--there was no need to even leave the boat! I ended up sleeping outside under the stars on the bow bed, and waking up to a beautiful sunrise (I highly recommend doing that if you stay here).

The next morning, Dan and Kelly took us out Shackelford Island, but again, we didn't leave the boat because we were having too much fun on it!

Our final day was incredibly sad because no one wanted to leave this paradise. As we reluctantly packed our things and got on the road, we immediately started making plans for our next trip to M/Y Everest. Dan and Kelly were amazing hosts, and are truly assets to the boating community! We can't wait to visit again soon!

What an awesome experience! I wanted to surprise my husband with a weekend getaway and this was the perfect place to do it. Kelly was so incredibly helpful prior to our arrival and throughout our stay and I could not have been happier with how our weekend turned out. M/Y Everest is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable with lots of lovely design details and conveniences. It was our first time staying on a boat, and we loved it!

As an added bonus, the yacht is docked in the perfect location in Beaufort-close to all of the restaurants and fun things to do in downtown Beaufort. We took the kayaks out for a morning paddle to Carrot Island, a nearby uninhabited island where we saw the wild horses and explored the gorgeous beaches. We also booked a cruise on the boat for a few hours on our last afternoon, which was great. Dan and Kelly were a blast to hang out with and we had so much fun getting to know them.

Overall, we had an amazing, memorable weekend. Dan and Kelly are wonderful hosts, and I would recommend M/Y Everest to any couples, families, or groups of friends looking for unique and lovely accommodation in a beautiful location. We're definitely planning to go back!

Everything that was discussed prior to our arrival was perfectly executed. The boat was comfportable and in a great location to the village. We traveled to Beaufort on our boat then tied up along side the Everest and it could not have been better. Dan and Kelly were there to help tie up and to give us the boat briefing.

There was nothing that we lacked for on board. Everything was available from toiletries to wine. The boat is clean and very comfortable. If you want to experience a yacht moment this is a bargain. Everest is in good shape but not a gold and glitter Palm Beach freakshow. It's a floating lived in home and you will love it if you are looking for comfort. If you want the glitz you can pay 10 times as much per night down South.

We went from the boat to Cape lookout for lighthouse looking to Shackelford where we were entertained by the wild horses. Lots of swim time and bags of shells.
Beaufort is a lovely town and worthy of time to discover it's charm. Good food and everything you need within easy walking.

Can't say enough about Dan and Kelly, once you meet them you you'll have new friends.

We'll go back just to hang out with them!

Wow what an awesome week! Dan and Kelly are amazing hosts. Staying aboard a yacht is a unique experience and they understand that. They go above and beyond in a proactive way, always thinking ahead and considering every possible need of their guests. Thank you guys for everything.

We WILL be back!

I can't speak highly enough about our experience on Everest. She was much more than a place to stay - this was an entire experience.

The Boat - Beautiful and spacious. The views from the bridge are unbeatable anywhere in Beaufort. The interior is well appointed and very spacious. Privacy is available when desired in one of the luxurious state rooms. Our group loved having a kitchen, living room, and bridge to share as opposed to having separate hotel rooms that would have required us to meet at bars and restaurants. An entire vacation could be spent lounging on deck, sipping mojitos, and grilling fresh fish on the massive propane grill. The more ambitious in our group also enjoyed taking out the kayaks to Rachel Carson Reserve to view the wild ponies.

The Location - The only way you could stay any closer to the water is by getting wet. I'd bet that this is the only lodging in town where you can swan dive off your balcony. All of the restaurants and bars in Beaufort are nearby.

The Hosts - Dan and Kelly are great. They epitomize southern hospitality with their genuine warmth and generosity. They were very unobtrusive (they stayed at their home on land, not on the boat), but we'd have been happy to have them on board the entire time! Very fun to share drinks with and Dan has a wealth of fascinating stories about sailing and climbing if you can get past his modest exterior. Really, really great folks. They are what make Everest so special. In short - any time that 4 or more of us stay in Beaufort, it will be on M/Y Everest.

The experience can't be beat.
